How Domino's Is Winning The Pizza Wars

  • Domino's Pizza sales fell a decade ago, but today it's world's biggest pizza company by sales. How did Domino's turn around its fortunes to dominate competitors like Pizza Hut and Papa John's?

For decades, food delivery meant Chinese takeout or Pizza, usually from a local shop or a large chain like Domino's Pizza. That's changed with the rise of food delivery services like Uber Eats, Grubhub, Postmades, and DoorDash. That's bad for Domino's. It might be American's number 1 pie maker, but Domino's Pizza built its business on delivery.

Am I the only one who’s never ate a Dominos pizza? I’ve eaten every other pizza except dominos. Little Ceasar, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, Marcos Pizza and other local pizzas in my area

Shame Dominos Australia has been doing the opposite
They reduced the size of the large pizza while keeping the price the same.
Then they released an "Extra Large" for $3 extra which was the original size of the large.
This was due to Dominos Australia releasing a product line called "New Yorker" so to make the New Yorker line look larger they reduced the size of the large.

Domino's is the only pizza chain offering...
    1) a gluten free crust that taste great
    2) the availability of the gluten free crust at every location.
    3) an affordable gluten free crust.
Now if they would just offer a 2 liter of Spirit Zero...

I liked dominos at first but as time went on all I tasted was that pizza was hot and sweet somewhat.
That's it no taste from ingredients. The pizza's were so bad that I got atleast 5 free pizzas from negative review.

Since the only other place is pizza hut I went there and the taste is completly different.but alas the prices were not student friendly.

Intense pressure to the delivery guy to deliver HOT pizza. Stopping by 7-11 to pick up a pack of smokes and fuel up could reap demise to a delicious pizza or any delivery meal. I use to service pizza delivery individual contractors in Florida. This guy spent hundreds of dollars keeping his vehicle on the road. Keeping his cost down by not having a car payment or insurance collision insurance premiums....REQUIRED insurance on any FINANCED vehicle..this drives up cost of actual operation of the delivery process. BUT, I was impressed with the system he used and was told he profited $800-1200 weekly doing delivery.

Door dash, Grub Hub....tried both numerous times and then realized the rising cost for same order as last week. Method to this madness turns a $28 order to a $42+ order using delivery. This makes pizza and the delivery seem reasonable compared. The inconsistency in pricing led me to discontinue a convenient service to question whether I would like to drive to a restaurant and save $12-14 dollars. You pay for convenience of having food delivered but it has been shown to make me question the worth & markup Door Dash & Grub Hub offer.

In my country we had just one Domino's establishment, but closed down 4-5 years ago, but even if Pizza Hut would had an upper hand thanks to it, Valenti's and Little Ceasars r the favorites now.
