Yes, but some areas are worse than other. I live on the Front Range, near the mountains and we rarely have tornadoes, and a snowstorm will not kill me.

So where do you plan to move away from inclement weather/natural disasters in the United States? The majority of the country has its issues with some sort of weather. Just saying.

You really can't criticize a suggestion to move out of Oklahoma. Just saying.

An urban area would have a higher death toll than a rural area from an EF5, since it would be more densely populated, and this tornado did hit a densely populated area. If you think you would be safe in a building in New York that took a direct hit from an EF5, think again. It would be obliterated.

Just think with the exponential progress of information technology how things are improving. Although any deaths is too many, 24 is a lot less than would be without current technology. I bet by 2030, tornadoes won't even be a threat to anyone, anymore.
Oklahoma must be pretty rural, and I'd suspect the rural areas would have the highest death rates for tornadoes. I think being inside one of those buildings in New York, you'd be pretty safe- an F5 would just scathe the surface.
