Forgot to give a penalty for flipping the football at the ref when he stepped out of bounds the first time.

Those were some strange plays. Especially the Flutie drop kick. Why would Belichick even call that play? Seems to me like a regular extra point kick would have been much safer and better odds. smh

Does it have to hit the goal posts for safety or can they just snap it out of bounds?

Can anyone help me understand why a free kick would be used to run down the clock in the 2nd or 4th quarter instead of say taking a knee once the ball is hiked? The example of SF's free kick happened on the first down with 4 seconds left in the first half. Was it actually to attempt, even against great odds, for the extra 3 points knowing the didn't have enough time to score a touchdown? I may have answered my own question since the chances of the Rams gaining control of the kick on a fail and running a 100+ yard touchdown are slim to none. So I guess a free chance at 3 extra points to end the first half?

A lot of these clips are just teams with a solid lead backed up in their own end zone stalling and taking a safety to run out the clock at the end of a game without leaving the opposing offense any time to work with which isn't an "obscure rule," it's a very common tactic.
