The thing is many people in Cameroon still believe their national football team are giants of Africa, with up to five African Cup of Nations titles — the second most successful nation in the tournament — and seven appearances in the World Cup — the most from an African team. However, they have failed to replicate that success on the world stage.
Their second ever appearance at the World Cup was a magical one, as they narrowly fell to England in the quarterfinals of the 1990 edition. But apart from that, they have failed to even get out of the group stage in their other six appearances. Their record at the last two World Cups was embarrassing for a side that was filled with so much talent. In 2010, despite having the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Stéphane Mbia, Carlos Kameni, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Rigobert Song and Geremi — they lost all three matches and were the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. What’s worse was the the World Cup was held on their own continent, yet they failed to even put in a decent performance. More importantly, this team has been widely underperforming in recent African nations cup tournaments as well apart from 2017 African Nations Cup success so I don’t expect them to make much of an impact in any major tournaments unless they are lucky.

My only concern last time we played Nigeria was Victor Moses and Jesus that dude made the Cameroonian team look like amateurs. However this time Moses retired so basically the physical battle is slightly advantageous to Cameroon. But Nigeria is a serious team with a good coach. We will see how it goes.

Another disappointing performance by the Afcon ChampIons Cameroon.

A team managed by Clarence Seedorf (King of Mid field) and Patrick Kluivert, one of the best strikers, But Cameroon has no leader in the mid field and they cannot score goals.

If you cannot score goals against Benin, How are you going to score against the best teams in the tournament?

I never understood why African teams have white coaches, I have yet to see European teams with African coaches. Really shows a lack of belief in our countrymen. I am Nigerian and this has always pissed me off, cause I know how talented we African’s are, yet we always want others to lead us. We have enough talent to fill all positions on all African teams.
