  • NOT FOR BROADCAST.
Raw footage of Fast Unit 53's (Chance Coldiron & Justin Cox) coverage of the Moore tornado that was used by KOCO5 during the event on May 20th, 2013. We watched as the tornado formed in front of us and rapidly intensified then moved across highway 37 in Newcastle, OK. Then the tornado continued to intensify as it tracked across the Canadian River and the interstate 44 bridge. The monster tornado was filmed from close range off the I-44 bridge north of Newcastle as it was headed for Moore.

I've been through 3 tornadoes now in my lifetime that I can remember. The smallest being an f2 and largest an f5. I'm from north Alabama/north Mississippi. I now live on the gulf coast where hurricanes are prominent. I guess you could say I'm attracted to danger.

I live on Long Island, NY and we have actually seen a handful of tornadoes here, which is weird honestly. I am always fascinated by tornadoes and as much as I'm terrified of them, seeing one in person has always been on my bucket list. This video, however, is changing my mind lol

I’m not wanting to come across as crazy or any type of conspiracy theorist at all, but I lived in this area from 1980-2003. I was present and just outside of ground zero for the 5/3/1999 F-5. As a kid, all the storms seemed to spool up somewhere near Chickasha. As I look back, it is strange how many violent storms seem to pass through the 12th street/I-35 corridor in Moore. Even before the big F-5 storms moved through, there were several damaging storms that took the same path. The weather scientists look to the atmosphere, but is there something in the magnetic crust that influences storms? Maybe it’s the jet stream in May. I’m not a scientist, but the guys who forecast/predict this stuff need to think outside the box.
